Hi.

Welcome to the ramblings of a vintage girl in a digital world. Join me as I process this crazy stage of life as a woman married later in life, a 40+ year old first-time mom with a spirited preschooler, an ambitious career woman and a point person for damn near everything!

I hope you enjoy!

All Hail The Queen!

Something that you might not know about me… I am passionate about postpartum care! Of course, the babies are cute and snuggly, but I find great purpose and joy in caring for the Mama.

The Mama is so neglected I our culture. People come over to hold the baby, oooh and aaah over the baby and inhale the new baby smell. That is like, the least helpful thing for a woman postpartum.

What she NEEDS is someone to bring her something to eat, wash the dishes or bottles, throw in a load of laundry or fold some, clean the bathroom, or keep an eye on the baby so she can take a real shower. She needs a nap. She needs help figuring out a routine whether it’s her first baby or her 5th. She needs someone to lovingly kick her older kids and husband in the ass and let them know that she is not her “normal” self. She just completed a task of miracles and is a superhero in recovery!

She also needs someone to look her in the eye and ask “How are you?” And be prepared to listen if she’s not ok.

My daughter and I made these no-bake lactation bites for a family friend. It’s something we do for new mamas, out of love! I think when I retire from being an OT, I’ll become a postpartum doula!
